Appeal your Parking Tickets with this Letter Sample. If you get a parking ticket you can always challenge it by writing a letter of appeal. The parking ticket in the UK is formally known as a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) or Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN). The latter is usually often followed up with criminal prosecution if the penalty isn't paid. The parking attendant or traffic warden is responsible for chasing non payment and issuing PCN and FPN.
When you get a parking ticket always make sure it is a valid PCN and include the following:
Write this letter to the council that issued the parking ticket within 14 days to make sure that you retain the right to pay at the 50% reduced rate. If your claim is rejected you will be notified in writing and a Notice to Owner (NTO) to the registered owner of the car will be issued. The discounted rate will then no longer be applicable and the full amount will be due. Under the Road Traffic Act 1991 the owner of any vehicle under a Penalty Charge Notice is liable for it no matter who was driving.
